make complex things clear and compelling.

I’m a writer, creative director, and consultant. I make AI research accessible. I also make things with brands, publishers, agencies, engineers, editors, and animators.

re: myself and my work (Short) –

I am writer (and “content strategist”, etc.) with a focus on artificial intelligence. I specialize in explainers, journalism that explains, and positioning new AI products on the market. I mostly write for IBM. I’ve done many other creative things professionally, too. Check out my writing.

re: myself and my work (MEDIUM) –

I started my career in TV. While at Nickelodeon, I began doing standup. That led to freelance writing on the side. Eventually, I left TV to work on in indie film marketing, which evolved into my start in video work and art direction – as well as in copywriting and social media work.

I left film to edit a book, with my father, about neurobiology. I then moved into branded content – first at a production studio, then at Omnicom agencies, then at Business Insider. All the while, I continued writing for publications, brands, and film studios on my own time.

From 2021–2023, I worked with Ruca as a lead copywriter, brand strategist, and creative director/content guy; and also with Yorba, as CMO and Chief Creative Officer; and on my own, as a writer/producer type.

For the past few years, I’ve been writing for IBM (and elsewhere) about machine learning, from explainers to emerging AI research to complex issues of LLM alignment and enterprise adoption. You can read that writing here, and/or on my IBM author page.

If you have ever looked up AI concepts online, you’ve seen my work. My articles, despite not being SEO slop, show up in the top search results and AI overviews for dozens of terms, including machine learning, attention mechanisms, deep learning, reasoning models, state space models, LLM alignment, backpropagation, model training, latent space, vector embeddings, diffusion models, the ELIZA effect, etc…which has also resulted in me doing some consulting for companies looking to wrap their heads (and/or their customers’ heads) around AI.

My goal is to promote genuine AI literacy in a society that desperately needs it. We’ll never be able to do the right thing unless we understand our options.
